I bloody love Back to the Future<\/em>. Who doesn’t? You’d have to literally be the worst person in the world not to. It’s just wholesome good fun, a story about two friends – a rebellious teen and a crazy mad scientist. You couldn’t get this film made today.<\/p>\n

You know what else I like? LEGO. I have buckets of the stuff in my parents’ loft. The only reason my house isn’t covered in LEGO now is because it’s so bloody expensive – that plastic, man. It’s becoming a premium (mostly because nobody’s figured out how to make it without precious oil yet). I tend to stop myself from buying LEGO in favour of other plastic frivolities<\/a>.<\/p>\n

However, when a project to produce the Back to the Future DeLorean gets green-lit on LEGO CUUSOO<\/a>, the site where LEGO lets people vote on community-submitted sets for production, I break my LEGO fast. My DeLorean was delivered promptly this week courtesy of Forbidden Planet, and I’ve had a nostalgic blast putting it together. It’s like therapy!<\/p>\n

I’ll say now, this wasn’t cheap for what is ostensibly building blocks for kids. However, these “collectors sets” have a lot of great details and the finished product is worth every penny (as well as the three hours it took me to build it). I’ll admit that I also get a minor giddy surge of geeky joy from those minifigs of Doc and Marty.<\/p>\n
