I&#8217;ve written <a title=\"Three Blokes and a Chick Watch\" href=\"https:\/\/www.payneful.co.uk\/blogsplosion\/category\/films\/three-blokes-and-a-chick-watch\/\">lengthy recaps of several of the films<\/a>, I&#8217;ve <a title=\"Die Another Day is the Darkest James Bond Film of All\" href=\"https:\/\/www.payneful.co.uk\/blogsplosion\/2015\/07\/25\/die-another-day-is-the-darkest-james-bond-film-of-all\/\">waxed lyrical about an alternative reading to one of the worst Bond films ever<\/a> (spoilers: Pierce Brosnan died in <i>Die Another Day<\/i> and it was all in his head!), and <a title=\"James Bond Isn\u2019t a Timelord\" href=\"https:\/\/www.payneful.co.uk\/blogsplosion\/2015\/05\/23\/james-bond-isnt-a-timelord\/\">I&#8217;ve even gotten shirty over another fan clearly mixing up Timelords and alternative realities when it comes to James Bond<\/a> due to reasoning based entirely on one video game.<\/p>\n<p>Basically, I&#8217;m a <em>little<\/em> obsessed.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve heard several rumours regarding the new film coming out in April, mostly about how production was apparently as pleasant and smooth as a tyre fire. However, I have hopes for the next film and won&#8217;t judge until I see it.<\/p>\n<p>One thing&#8217;s for certain though: James Bond will <i>die<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>I mean, it&#8217;s not actually a certainty, that&#8217;s the point of this post. I&#8217;m <i>guessing<\/i> he will die. I&#8217;m about 95% confident he will die, for the following reasons:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It&#8217;s Daniel Craig&#8217;s last outing as Bond.<\/li>\n<li>The motif of the last few films is that the idea and purpose of James Bond is increasingly irrelevant in the modern age and that the character himself is old and over-the-hill<sup class='footnote'><a href='https:\/\/www.payneful.co.uk\/blogsplosion\/2020\/01\/19\/random-guesswork-no-time-to-die\/#fn-3024-1' id='fnref-3024-1' onclick='return fdfootnote_show(3024)'>1<\/a><\/sup>.<\/li>\n<li>The Bond films have never killed him before<sup class='footnote'><a href='https:\/\/www.payneful.co.uk\/blogsplosion\/2020\/01\/19\/random-guesswork-no-time-to-die\/#fn-3024-2' id='fnref-3024-2' onclick='return fdfootnote_show(3024)'>2<\/a><\/sup> so there&#8217;s a first they can explore.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Frankly, I&#8217;ll be very disappointed when it turns out my 95% confident guess is absolutely wrong and he survives the film because it&#8217;ll go completely against the theme they&#8217;ve been setting up since <i>Skyfall<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>While I&#8217;m touting random guesses I might as well have a stab at what the next Bond film after <i>No Time to Die<\/i> will look like. There has been a lot of murmuring about it handing off to a new female lead and while it seems feasible to play the Doctor Who genderswap card, they wanted to do it with Jynx<sup class='footnote'><a href='https:\/\/www.payneful.co.uk\/blogsplosion\/2020\/01\/19\/random-guesswork-no-time-to-die\/#fn-3024-3' id='fnref-3024-3' onclick='return fdfootnote_show(3024)'>3<\/a><\/sup> back in the early 2000&#8217;s and <a title=\"Jynx on Wikipedia\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jinx_(James_Bond)#Future\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">it didn&#8217;t play out to plan<\/a><sup class='footnote'><a href='https:\/\/www.payneful.co.uk\/blogsplosion\/2020\/01\/19\/random-guesswork-no-time-to-die\/#fn-3024-4' id='fnref-3024-4' onclick='return fdfootnote_show(3024)'>4<\/a><\/sup>. The only sane and sensible route I can see where they can go at this point is to reboot the franchise back to the 50&#8217;s and 60&#8217;s and set it during the Cold War.<\/p>\n<p>Oh, and just make Idris Elba the new Bond already.
