Darke came up with Ralph's little bag of tricks, and I'm glad he did because the thought never struck me that Ralph might abuse the portal technology in such a way! I'm sure that bag is going to come in great use in later chapters.

According to Darke, "that's a Gru Freeze Ray in case you were wondering". Because Ralph's notorious thefts from other scientific bodies doesn't stop at celebrity villains.
